Mysticism of Sri Swamiji’s Music for Meditation & Healing

All Music springs from Sound (Nada) and all music carries vibrations emanating from the rhythm and tone of music. Whatever may be the form of music-singing, dancing or playing, it’s key constituents are always rhythm and tone (Taala and Swara) in which actually inhere the potent effect - producing substance of music - the Vibrations.

Now look at the human organism. The pulse rate, the beating of heart and brain, the circulation of blood and the inward-outward movement of breath-they are all related to the system of rhythm and tone in the human body, producing the invisible life-giving and life-sustaining vibratory activity. When the health is out of order it means that the rhythm and tone within the body is out of order. The help of harmony is then very much necessary to bring us to the state of harmony. And what is the effect of music? The effect of music is to regulate the rhythm of another person and to tune a person to the music that is being performed.

The mysticism of music in the context of Meditation and Healing lies essentially in quality of sound vibrations emanating from rhythm and tone of music, for it is through their fusion that different vibrations get created and a soul is tuned and raised above the depression and despair of every day life in this world. And if one knew what rhythm was needed for a particular individual in his trouble and despair, what tone was needed and to what pitch that person’s level of consciousness should be raised, one would then be able to heal him with music.

Kriya Yoga

Kriya Yoga, the practice of controlling breathing (Pranayama) is one method that Sri Swamiji teaches to improve health and peace of mind. Sri Swamiji and his assistants have conducted many Kriya yoga classes in various cities. People that have taken the classes are attracted to the simple explanations and demonstrations of different pranayama techniques. In 1985 in Northeast Pennsylvania, Sri Swamiji explained the significance of breath control. Many people are impressed by the effect of Pranayama in balancing the mind.

The goal of all Yoga is to unite Man with God. But the paths are many and seemingly confusing. Raja Yoga, Kriya Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Nadopasana, Kundalini Yoga…. These are but few, and only a Master can explain their depths and differences. Yoga is when intellect and heart are joining. Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji has been conducting Kriya Yoga classes in order to promote healthy bodies and minds. Hundreds of people took these Kriya yoga classes and received numerous benefits. Many people are instigated by His Simple explanations and demonstrations of different pranayama techniques.

Long breath, Long life. Short breath, short life… A long breath, a long Pranayama is beneficial for our nervous system and mental balance. Whoever practices long breathing will not be tired at all. Those with a short breath will become tired. "Many people are impressed by the effect of Pranayama in balancing the mind. Every body faces problems related to health, wealth, office, children, house etc., we get upset, irritated, disappointed, and angry which depletes our energy. Then our nervous system works hard and our heart pumps rapidly wasting our precious energy. Through Pranayama, one can control breath, senses, food and other action."

About Triyoga

TriYoga Flows (Prasara), a complete hatha yoga method, is the union of posture, breath and focus - or asana, pranayama and mudra. TriYoga fundamentals include relaxation-in-action, wave-like spinal movements and economy of motion. With the systematic approach, students can remain with Basics or progress to subsequent levels. Within each level, students increase their knowledge of posture and flow, as well as strength, flexibility, endurance and breath control. Through sustained awareness on all aspects of the practice, the movement of body, breath and mudra harmonize and the inner flow naturally emerges.
